When not hanging out playing keyboards for jazz legend Cal Tjader Lonnie Hewitt somehow found time to put together this soulful gem.It features bassist Paul Jackson of Headhunters fame, which is pretty unusual for a soul record.
Check the going rate here, buy yourself a copy here.... but dont dig to hard or you might turn into this guy.

Fairly frightening cover obfuscates an otherwise brilliant album. Many thanks to you.

I hope other blogs take note of how you do things. consistently one of the best blogs out there.
Lonnie Hewitt produced a bunch of garage & soul singles on his WEE label. One of them, "Boy, What'll You Do Then" by Denise recently sold for $10,000. It's a great single, but damn!
Hewitt also released an excellent 45 under the name "Pi-R-Square" that's been reissued by Jazzman.

Thank You!
Classy post, thanks for sharing!
I've already commented on this one, but I must do so again: I've been listening to this album over and over again for more than a month, and I can't get enough of it. The music is very simple, in a way, and half of it is just a reptition of two or three themes. But it is so good! Truly one of the best soul records I have ever heard. As Lonnie puts it in his irresistibly bombastic way, "most do catch, but few can hold". So thanks again!
thanks
thanks for the post. look forward to listening
